For the first time in more than seven decades, the annual sports meet of the Government Secondary School for Boys (MSSB), Magburaka, has been fully sponsored by one of its own—marking a historic moment in the life of the institution.
The Chief Executive Officer of Yeabu London Pharmaceutical SL Limited, Mr. Momoh Deen Conteh, has donated and fully sponsored the 73rd Annual MSSB Sports Meet, providing sporting materials and logistical support valued at thousands of pounds sterling. His contribution ensured the successful hosting of the event at the school’s sports complex, drawing admiration from students, staff, and the wider Magburaka community.

A large banner displayed at the venue publicly welcomed and appreciated Mr. Conteh for honouring the school’s invitation as Grand Chief Patron of the 2023 MSSB Sports Meet, acknowledging his role in sustaining the long-standing sporting tradition of the institution.
Speaking on the impact of the gesture, former Principal of MSSB, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Sesay, popularly known as Atto Kay, described the support as unprecedented. He noted that, since the school’s establishment over 70 years ago, no indigene had taken up the responsibility of single-handedly sponsoring the annual sports meet at such a scale. The current Principal, Mr. Albert Bundu Kamara, echoed the sentiment, describing the intervention as timely and transformative for the school.

Beyond the financial value, the sponsorship revitalized student participation, boosted morale, and reinforced the importance of sports in character building, discipline, and teamwork. Students competed in a well-organised and vibrant event that reflected renewed hope and pride within the school community.
Mr. Conteh’s intervention, through Yeabu London Pharmaceutical SL Limited, highlights the growing role of private sector leadership in supporting education and youth development. His action stands as a powerful example of community-driven development and responsible corporate citizenship.

As Magburaka celebrates this milestone, many see the gesture as more than a one-off donation—it is a call to other sons and daughters of the district to invest in education and give back to the institutions that shaped them.
